Within the parish of St Martins, there are 5 Primary Schools.

 

Oaktrees Community Primary School

 

The church has good links with these schools and supports the schools in a number of ways.

 

St Martin’s staff team regularly take assemblies in the schools and assist with RE lessons as appropriate. School groups come to the church as part of the RE curriculum, and each Christmas we host school carol services and preschool nativity services. We also host other School Celebration Services throughout the year.

 

Several members of the church have some governor involvement and it is a privilege to support the schools in this way.

 

This link with the schools is very important as the children see the church and Christianity as more than just something they learn about but as an active faith in their community. It is also a privilege to provide support for the school staff as and when we can.
