Faith Development
Study Groups

Study Groups are an ideal place to find out more about the Christian faith and to meet together in fellowship with other Christians. We currently have two Study Groups, one meets at St Martin’s Church and the other meets at the home of one of the group’s members.

Whether you’ve been a Christian all your life, a newcomer to the faith, or maybe you just have questions, you’ll find a study group is a perfect place to meet with others for discussion fellowship and growth.

Church Study Group
The Church study group meets weekly and is a lively and diverse group, usually asking questions about the texts we encounter in the Bible and how they relate to our lives. It’s a place where we can bring our doubts and fears as well as our faith and hope, and we are learning to trust one another with these. Recently we struggled with the book of Judges, studied a York course and looked at the ‘signs’ Jesus performed as recorded in John’s gospel. We begin our sessions with coffee, and spend about 90 minutes together, ending with prayer. All are welcome!

Home Study Group
The "house" group meets in peoples homes and we're a "homely" bunch our studies are informal, sometimes irreverent, we're not afraid to say we don't understand, but we try to learn a bit more about the bible and its message for us today. Our recent Lent course was entitled "Fast food and friendly service guaranteed" taking each word and examining the Christian meaning behind each one. After Easter we will be watching recordings of Christianity a history" which recently appeared on TV and discussing them.
